The Alliance for Coastal Technologies is planning a workshop on "Technologies and Methodologies for the Detection of Harmful Algae and their Toxins," Oct. 29-31, in St. Petersburg, FL. AOOS Contributes to Children's Book
on Ocean Currents
AOOS provided financial support for a new children's book, Pete Puffin's Wild Ride, published by Alaska Geographic. AOOS will also provide financial support for distribution of the book to each library and school in Alaska, as well as assist with incorporating the book into curriculum development.
NANOOS Observing Data Contributes to Science Summit
On June 30, US Rep. Norm Dicks (D-OR) will host a Hood Canal Science Summit to hear the results of a 3-year study to assess causes of hypoxia in Hood Canal. Observing data partially supported by NANOOS was instrumental in the study and knowledge gained.
